FIELD: tobacco industry, in particular, manufacture of rod-like tobacco articles with filtering plugs or tips of nonround section by wrapping group of such articles. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has drum 29 mounted for rotation about its axis of rotation and provided with grooves 59 extending in parallel with its axis of rotation, and vacuum sucker for retaining grouped articles 52. Roller surface 62 of drum is joined to stationary roller surface 54. Articles are rolling in space defined by working gap 67 between mentioned surfaces. Roller surface 62 of rotating drum 29 and stationary roller surface 54 have wavy configuration in conformance with nonround configuration of group of articles rolling between them in space 67. Shape of space 67 is such that in the process of rolling of articles 52 in space 67, central axis M of grouped articles describes circular path 68 about axis of rotating drum. Group of articles is wrapped with connecting sheets to which glue layer is preliminarily applied. Wrapping process is performed in mode providing continuity of rolled articles.
