FIELD: hydraulic engineering; applicable at final stage of construction of dam with earth impervious member. SUBSTANCE: first, dam is constructed with temporary head in the form of practically uniform layer from noncohesive or low-cohesive nonswelling earth of limited water permeability. Upon elapse of preset initial period of dam operation under head when dam settlement is the most intensive and impervious member overhangs over side prisms, dam head is completed to its final state. For which purpose, made in uniform layer of head from cohesive earth is wall in earth by special dry rules: trench excavated by earth-moving machine is strengthened by movable structure and earlier made part of impervious member is subjected to ramming by heavy ram through trench bottom. Then, trench is filled with cohesive earth with its compaction and dam is completed to preset level. EFFECT: simplified work and higher reliability of dam at final stage of its construction, or in reconstruction of dam head. 4 cl, 4 dwg
