FIELD: acoustic instruments. SUBSTANCE: method involves generation of carrier frequency synchronization signal, which is modulated by time samples, its storage in together with vibration signals, converting synchronization signal from electric to acoustic form, its emission of monitored object, reception of acoustic signal, filtration and storage together with acoustic signals. Goal of invention is achieved by using synchronization signal for converting vibration and acoustic signals to single time scale with respect to synchronization points selected along object's length and measuring signal correlation level with respect to each point. Emission region, source and its input into acoustic field depend on maximal correlation level and position of respective synchronization point. EFFECT: increased precision of detection, elimination of restrictions on spectral content of signals. 4 cl, 5 dwg
