GEAR FOR ARRANGEMENT OF OPTICAL FIBERS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: storage, joining and separation of optical fibers. SUBSTANCE: gear for arrangement of optical fibers has at least one input and one output passages positioned for passage of optical fibers through each of them and cylinder for storage of fibers. Cylinder is mounted to ensure limiting of bending radius of optical fiber by outer surface of cylinder to minimal bending radius of fiber equal to critical bending radius of this fiber while it passes between input and output passages. Hollow cylinder provides for limiting of bending radius of free end of optical fiber when it passes inside cylinder by inner surface of cylinder to minimal bending radius which is larger then one that causes constant damage to fiber. Cylinder has round cylindrical shape or shape and dimensions varying over length to ensure holding of fiber. It has slit for passing of fiber from one of passages to provide for storage of spare fiber in cylinder. EFFECT: safe storage of spare fiber. 14 cl, 20 dwg
