FIELD: destruction of pests in products, such as grain, tobacco and quarantine objects. SUBSTANCE: method of generation of fumigant gas in form of mixture of phosphine and carbon dioxide includes introduction of mixture of acid and water to phosphide of metal, binder and agent forming carbon dioxide during reaction which are preliminarily mixed as homogeneous mass. Carbon dioxide is obtained simultaneously with phosphine. Heat released during generation of phosphine is compensated for due to endothermic process of forming of carbon dioxide. Device used for generation of the fumigant gas includes reactor consisting of at least two communicating chambers: one chamber is used for mass of metal phosphide, agent forming carbon dioxide and binder and second chamber is used for mixture of acid and water. Composition for generation of fumigant gas includes components in the following ratio: phosphine and carbon dioxide, 1(1.5-20.0) parts by volume and acid and water, 1(1-10) parts by mass. Method of generation of fumigant gas includes switching-on the device for generation of fumigant gas and generation of phosphine and carbon dioxide in device. Delivery of fumigant gas to the object to be treated is effected due to excessive pressure built up in the above-mentioned device. Method of fumigation of object in form of block is effected at the top or at the bottom of this block within the period of time sufficient for forming the fumigation wave which is then forced through object of fumigation by convective flow of air. According to another method of fumigation of object in form of block of product through which natural convective flow of air passes, fumigant gas is fed to object within the period of time sufficient for filling the entire block of product with fumigant gas. Version of method of fumigation of object having form of block of product through which natural convective air flow of alternating direction passes provides for deliver of fumigant gas at the top and at the bottom. Method of fumigation of object where convective air flows are absent or closed natural convective air flows are present inside object, consists in delivery of fumigant gas to upper portion of object. EFFECT: reduced consumption of fumigant gas; reduced expenses for decontamination of object. 28 cl, 14 dwg
