FIELD: transport engineering; electromechanical traction drives. SUBSTANCE: proposed drive has three-phase induction motor mainly supplied from frequency converter and coupled through reduction gear with wheel axle-shafts, and control system. Rotor consists of halves with short-circuited windings installed coaxially in bore of single-pack stator with axial displacement and air gap. Design provides relative rotation of halves on individual opposite shaft arranged in bearing units on common axis in one direction. Shafts are connected with inlet members of left-hand and right-hand trains of reduction gear, and driven members on individual shafts are connected with axle-shafts. Engine, reduction gear and control system form, together, a compact set crosswise mounted in vehicle. Engine plays also the part of center differential which makes it possible to dispense with mechanical differential.
