METHOD OF PREPARING CARBON NANOTUBES Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2146648 C1

FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly preparation of sorbents, catalysts, materials for chromotography, and composite materials. SUBSTANCE: reactor is charged with granular catalyst which comprises, wt %: iron, 28-85; cobalt, 5- 75; and the aluminium oxide balance. Vibroconduit is started and catalyst is converted into vibrofluidized state, heated to 650 C and methane is fed to heated catalyst. Resulting hydrogen is withdrawn, carbon nanotubes are separated from catalyst by dissolving it in HCL. Yield of nanotubes per unit of catalyst weight is 100-2000 %. Nanotubes contain no amorphous carbon on surface. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 4 cl, 1 ex, 1 tbl
