DRILL-TRAINING AMMUNITION Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: ammunition for small arms. SUBSTANCE: proposed ammunition includes case, percussion cap, propelling charge and nonmetal spherical bullet deformed easily. In neck of ammunition there are mounted interference fit insert having internal space, narrowing conical starting section, axial passage with diameter of 0.6-0.8 caliber of bullet and external ring thrust collar with width of 1.5-2.5 mm. Bullet is put into internal space of insert and wall of the latter has longitudinal grooves of 2.0-4.0 mm in length. Insert is placed in case for axial movement to rests anchored in case wall. Case is so shortened by width of ring thrust collar of insert that outer dimensions of drill-training ammunition correspond to dimensions of combat ammunition of standard weapon. Invention makes it feasible to use ammunition of standard automatic and semi-automatic weapon without usage of inset barrels which decreases time of transfer to shooting with drill ammunition and vice versa. EFFECT: decreased time of transfer from shooting with drill ammunition to live ammunition and back. 2 dwg
