FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: procedure can be employed to evaluate damage of deformed material while measuring area of macropores in process of deformation and execution of additional analysis of variance of chemical composition of material by key chemical elements. Variations of percentage of key chemical elements are measured. Spectral analysis of chemical composition of material by key alloying chemical elements is conducted before, after and in process of each type of deformation. Obtained results of measurement of variations of percentage of key chemical elements are converted to summary percentage carbon equivalents of specified elements which are used to evaluate damage of matrix and/or predisposition of tested material to emergence of defects of structural-phase composition of surface layer under conditions of specified deformation. Damage is determined as difference of damage of material due to concentration of key alloying elements in surface layer and of damage caused by formation of pores or defects of structural-phase composition and defects of intergranular boundaries determined by gradient of concentration of harmful impurities. EFFECT: widened information on damage, simplified procedure and increased authenticity of it. 2 cl, 4 dwg
