FIELD: rolled stock production, namely testing and measuring instruments, particularly for diagnostics of mechanisms of rolling stand of rolling mill such as threads of screw gage of screwdown mechanism and thrust bearing. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes pickups arranged in drive unit of screwdown mechanisms for measuring angular position of screws; pickups forming signals corresponding to predetermined fixed position of screws along height mounted on housing in range of translation stroke of screws. Pickups for detecting position of necking portions of roll along height are secured to beam of levelling device through gear wheels. Signals of said pickups are fed to memory unit, then - to comparator and to computing unit for determining wear degree. EFFECT: possibility of measuring wear degree of screw gage and thrust bearing of screwdown mechanism in process of rolling mill operation. 1 dwg
