FIELD: oxidation-reduction catalysts. SUBSTANCE: specified configuration of coating is created in certain zones of carrier by layerwise applying aqueous solution containing metal components of complex oxide in the form of mixture of destructible salts and water-soluble polymer, after which coated carrier is baked for 0.5 to 5 h at 873 to 1173 C. More specifically, coating is formed from at least two aqueous solutions mainly ensuring catalysis of either oxidation or reduction reactions, while at least once alternating applying solutions in coating formation zone. Surface of preceding layer is covered by protective mask of material indifferent under coating operation. The latter is accomplished by immersing preliminarily evacuated carrier at room temperature into saturated solutions of salt mixtures in presence of water- soluble polymer, after which excess liquid is mechanically removed and residue is dried at 323-423 C.
