FIELD: shipbuilding; designing hydrofoil systems for hydrofoil ships. SUBSTANCE: hydrofoil system has lifting hydrodynamic surface. Lifting hydrodynamic surface is rigidly secured to ship's hull by means of struts. Lifting hydrodynamic surface is divided into two lifting surfaces which are close in sizes: upper and lower lifting surfaces which are rigidly connected in span by means of inner vertical struts forming braceless truss structurally. Distance between upper and lower lifting surfaces ranges from 0.3 to 1.5 of chord vertically and from 0 to 1.5 of chord horizontally; lower surface may be extended forward or starward relative to upper surface. EFFECT: increased rigidly and enhanced strength of braceless truss as compared with standard model; reduced mass of hydrofoil system at large hydrodynamic area, thus making it possible to use hydrofoil system for hydrofoil ships of large displacement. 4 dwg
