FIELD: metallurgy of alloys. SUBSTANCE: process specifically refers to methods of production of ingots of titanium alloys by way of remelting of consumable electrodes in vacuum arc furnaces. Process includes mixing of each portion of loose components of charge made of spongy titanium, alloying elements and waste in mixer, pouring of burden into container of press, portion pressing of consumable electrode in the form of one unit as minimum and production of ingot of first remelting ( of cast consumable electrode ) in vacuum arc furnace, second remelting of cast consumable electrode, action with pulsating or alternating magnetic field on zone of melting and crystallization. Calculated composition of alloy for pressing of unit of consumable electrode is specified per each portion of burden, mass of pressed unit is set equal to mass of melted ingot. Mass of each portion of burden in pressed unit is found from relation Mport= K1Ioper(KГ), where K1 is coefficient taking into account mass of bath of molten metal under specified current during first remelting of pressed unit, kg/kA; K1= 3-7=3-7; Ioper is operational melting current, kA. Maximal and minimal pressure during pressing of each portion are tied up by relation Pmin= Pmaxe(0,25-0,4). Boss is formed on lower butt of pressed electrode and recess in the form of truncated hemisphere with radius amounting to 0.2-0.4 radius of pressed consumable electrode and height amounting to 0.03-0.05 radius of pressed consumable electrode is made in upper butt. EFFECT: improved homogeneity of composition of ingots of first remelting, averaging of composition of alloy in bath of molten metal during second remelting, liquidation of macrodefects in ingots. 3 cl
