FIELD: instruments, in particular, for measuring length of heated objects in slab production and metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: device has photodetector, signal processing unit and memory unit. Goal of invention is achieved by TV camera, commutator, read-only memory unit, searching unit, matching circuit, solving unit, indicator, two RS flip-flops, two AND gates and OR gate. EFFECT: decreased power consumption, increased sensitivity up to single photon operations, increased precision of measurements. 11 dwg
