FIELD: rescue equipment used for withdrawal of people from high-rise objects during fire. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has braking device with stator and rotor mounted concentrically one with respect to the other. Tape-like load-bearing member is coiled onto rotor. Space between stator and rotor is filled with abrasive bulk material, such as corundum polishing powder. Rotor has hollow drum projections arranged in helical line on its inner surface to define single or multiple-thread auger. Stator is rigidly coupled to load suspender and is made in the form of hollow shaft positioned within drum. Radial projections are positioned in equally spaced relation on outer surface of hollow shaft to define gap with respect to auger projections along its length. Length of radial projections of hollow shaft is smaller than that of auger. EFFECT: increased efficiency, convenient operation and maintenance and increased safety for people. 8 cl, 3 dwg
