FIELD: carbon materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of production of carbon materials by depositing from gas phase layers of pyrolytic carbon with high degree of crystalline structure orderliness onto surfaces of a variety of materials. Deposition process is carried out onto heated surface at atmospheric pressure and 950-1350 C from gas-vapor mixture of carbon tetrachloride and hydrogen at their molar ratio 1:(5-50). EFFECT: appreciably increased lifetime and price cost of graphite products and those based on carbon composites. 1 tbl
