FIELD: carbon materials. SUBSTANCE: carbon black is prepared via pyrolysis of natural gas in regeneration-type gas heater, which is operated by way of heating gas heater head with crude hydrocarbon combustion products followed by passing natural gas through head and pyrolyzing preheated gas. Heating of head is conducted at alternated consumption of combustion products and gradual decrease of the air excess factor. Characteristics of changes in consumption and composition of combustion product are chosen empirically from condition of maximum utilization in heating cycle of heat releasing from burn-out of head deposits. Subsequent gas heater head heating cycles are conducted under the same conditions. Pyrolysis products are cooled and carbon black separated. Invention is intended for use in rubber, varnish-and-paint, and polygraphic industry. EFFECT: considerably reduced fuel consumption. 2 dwg, 3 ex
