SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of preparing sorbents used for treatment of drinking water, in part, to technology of producing bacteriostatic sorbent that can be used in filters for drinking water treatment under household conditions and in public points. Method of preparing bacteriostatic sorbent for treatment of drinking water involves treatment of activated carbon by impregnation with silver nitrate and copper sulfate solution and then impregnated carbon is treated with alkali solution to pH value 9-10 and washed out with water. Obtained bacteriostatic sorbent provides the resistance of drinking water in the process of its treatment to bacteriological pollution. EFFECT: improved method of sorbent preparing. 3 tbl
