FIELD: water and air purification technology; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for preparing a sorbent includes preparing an impregnating solution, impregnating active carbon grains, and heat treating. Active carbon with a tamped density of 750–850 g/dm3, with a micropore size of 1.50–1.60 nm, with a grain size of 0.2–1.0 mm is treated. Impregnation is carried out with an ammonia solution of carbonate basic copper. Copper content in the resulted sorbent is 1.4–1.8 % by weight, expressed as copper. Sorbent obtained by the method of the invention has an activity for extracting 0.15–0.20 mg/g of sodium cyanide from the water.
