FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making sorbents for purifying drinking water and can be used for water purification in household conditions, in public water purification filters and purification systems in field conditions. A method is proposed for making a sorbent, involving preparation of an impregnating solution, impregnation of active carbon granules with the solution and thermal treatment, where the active coal used has micropore volume of 0.10-0.20 cm3/cm3. The impregnating solution is based on ammonia water. The solution contains 110-130 g/dm3 basic copper carbonate in terms of copper and 70-90 g/dm3 ammonium carbonate. Impregnation is done with the solution heated to 55-70°C and thermal treatment is done at 120-145°C. Copper content in the ready sorbent equals 2-3 wt %.
EFFECT: sorbent obtained using the proposed method has sorption capacity for extracting methyl-phosphinic acid from water equal to 0,12-0,16 mg/g, which is 1,5-2,5 times higher than for sorbents obtained using existing methods.
