FIELD: metallurgy, particularly, refining of high-carbon metal melt in making steel from liquid iron. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of oxygen-containing gas in amount ensuring blowing of 80-100% of all oxygen required for refining of high-carbon metal melt during filling of refining vessel with melt. Upon completion of filling the refining vessel with melt within 0.5-0.9 of its height, oxygen flow rate in oxygen-containing gas is reduced to 0.3-0.5 of its initial value. Melt is used in the form of pig iron filling ladle installed alternately for jet of molten metal to ensure continuous refining. Ladles are provided with lances located under molten metal.
