FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: process is meant to take friction characteristics of surfaces of materials. It involves installation of test prod on surface of material in one point and registration of moment of displacement of test prod with reference to sample. Sample is mounted for translation in horizontal plane. Test prod is mounted in flexible braces for angular movement in vertical plane. Then test prod is loaded and sample is moved in pair with prod till their relative displacement occurs. Then value of linear displacement of sample is computed as difference of final δ2 and initial δ1 readings on scale of micrometer screw. Coefficient of static friction is calculated by formula f=P/G x δ/L, where P is mass of test prod; δ = δ2-δ1 is value of linear displacement of sample: G is additional load on test prod; L is length of flexible braces. EFFECT: expanded functional capabilities and increased accuracy of determination of coefficient of static friction under very low loads. 2 dwg
