FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method to determine a coefficient of friction of rest of a surface layer of an electroconducting material includes installation of a sample with the possibility of reciprocal motion in the horizontal plane. Also the method includes installation of a metering feeler, which contacts with the sample surface in one point, with the possibility of angular displacement in the vertical plane on flexible links. Besides, the method includes loading of the metering feeler and movement of the sample in the pair with the feeler to their mutual shift. At the same time the shift is fixed by a jump of electric voltage in the contact of the metering feeler with the sample surface, and the coefficient of friction of rest of the electroconducting material is calculated in accordance with the following formula:
EFFECT: increased accuracy of detection of coefficient of friction of rest at low loads on surfaces of friction of electroconducting materials.
