FIELD: electrical and power engineering; heat and hot-water supply systems for domestic and industrial users. SUBSTANCE: transformer-type fluid heater has heating unit which is, essentially, enclosed concentric cavity made of high-resistance nonmagnetic material incorporating additional ring of low-resistance nonmagnetic material; enclosed cavity is shaped to minimize hydraulic loss; additional ring is perforated in coolant inlet and outlet regions or over entire perimeter of ring. Additional ring may be ribbed or built up of set of flat rings joined together with cross bars to improve heat transfer. Transformer primary winding may be sectionalized with heating unit placed between sections. EFFECT: improved reliability and reduced material input. 2 dwg
