FIELD: environment control. SUBSTANCE: method used for cleaning gases emitted from paint-and-varnish and glycerin production plants, incinerators, and internal-combustion engines includes two stages: gas is first passed through accumulating trap filled with porous ceramic elements and 5-10% aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite. Then it is conveyed to primary heat-transfer apparatus wherein it is heated to 80-100 C and then passed through secondary heat-transfer apparatus and heated to 250- 350 C. After that, gas is fed to catalytic secondary-combustion reactor accommodating plates of porous heat-resistant material coated with catalytic layer of palladium or platinum; compressed atmospheric air is supplied to reactor to maintain catalytic process in it. Then clean gas is exhausted into the atmosphere through jacket of primary heat-transfer apparatus. Proposed cleaning process is effective due to its pre-cleaning in 5-10% aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite and its secondary combustion in close proximity of catalyst surface. EFFECT: facilitated procedure, improved reliability, reduced power requirement and cost, improved safety. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
