FIELD: procedure of dressing and rewinding of wire, in particular, methods and devices used for dressing of electrode member, applicable in the process of preparation of electrode wire for welding and surfacing. SUBSTANCE: wire 23 to be dressed is drawn through the known wire feed mechanism and guide-die. It is fitted onto pulleys 18 and 19. First on pulley 18, and then-on pulley 19. The wire free end is connected to the take-up reel connected to the drive electric motor. Then the wire loop is removed from pulley 19, and both branches of the loop are twisted with one the other by turning the above loop at least by half a turn. After that the above loop is fitted onto pulley 19 again. Then the electric motor is switched on for dressing the wire. The device has a simplified design due to use of an adjustable bracking device before the inlet to the wire processing path. EFFECT: enhanced stability and quality of wire surface dressing. 2 cl, 6 dwg
