FIELD: transport engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: invention related to spark ignition systems of internal combustion engines. System has spark gap whose electrodes are secured at a distance not less than 9 mm from each other in housing of insulating material. Spark gap housing is enclosed in metal screen electrically connected to main metal members of automobile body. Electrodes can be secured with possibility of adjusting electrode-to- electrode distance. Housing can be made hermetically sealed and filled up with inert gas. Vacuum can be maintained in housing space. EFFECT: improved ignition of fuel mixture. 5 cl, 3 dwg
