SUBSTANCE: ignition system has spark plugs; high-voltage conductors; ignition coil; devices used for low-voltage pulse switching in ignition coil and for high-voltage pulse supply to definite spark plug; and high-voltage spark gap series-connected in high-voltage circuit past ignition coil, its breakdown voltage being lower than or equal to minimal permissible high voltage across ignition coil. High-voltage spark gap may be made either in the form of self-contained device or it may be built in available components of ignition-system high-voltage circuit.
