METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE DEGREE OF SPREAD AND CLINICAL COURSE OF UTERUS BODY CANCER FROM ESTROGEN CONTENTS IN NORMAL AND MALIGNANT ENDOMETRIUM TISSUES Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2151400 C1

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking samples of tumor tissue and endometrium tissue being healthy in appearance from patients suffering from uterus body cancer and not subjected to any therapy in past. An aliquot of produced homogenate is taken for determining protein contents by applying Lowry method. Another aliquot is extracted twice with diethyl ether. The extract is evaporated at room temperature and suspended in phosphate buffer to determine estradiol contents by means of radioimmunoassay. The greater is the value of the mentioned parameter in tumor or the greater is the value of estradiol-in- tumor/estradiol-in-healthy-endometrium ratio, the greater is probability to detect the more developed stage of the disease (in all patients), the lower is the degree of tumor differentiation (in patients distinguished by superior type of fat accumulation the waist/hip ratio > 0.85) and the deeper is tumor invasion (in patients distinguished by inferior type of fat accumulation the waist/hip ratio <0.85). EFFECT: enhanced accuracy in predicting the degree of cancer spread. 3 tbl
