FIELD: equipment for cleaning or sweeping up surfaces for predetermined distance or regulated variable distance. SUBSTANCE: brush pressure regulating system has elongate springs located in tubes and adapted to be compressed by electric actuating mechanism. Working pressures are measured and displayed on operator's control panel and may be kept at relatively constant level despite floor surface irregularities by means of feedback control circuit. Operator may set required pressure, and feedback may be used for leveling working pressure to selected value. By regulating pressure applied to floor surface by brushes, machine may be used for cleaning heavily soiled surfaces, washing surfaces with brushes, as well as for slight sweeping procedures. In any case, readjustment and resetting procedures are eliminated. Moreover, expensive brushes are prevented from excessive wearing and floor surfaces are not subjected to damage by brushes. Machine equipped with such brushes has improved maneuverability allowing it to be employed by women.
