FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of preparing polyesters and copolyesters by polycondensation of original components forming polyesters and copolyesters. In first reaction stage polyesters or oligoethers are prepared optionally in the presence of transesterification catalyst. Said esters are polycondensed in second reaction stage in the presence of titanium-containing catalyst. Titanium-containing catalyst includes combined precipitate of titanium dioxide and silicon dioxide at molar ratios thereof from 90:10 to 20:8 and/or combined precipitator of titanium dioxide and zirconium dioxide at molar ratio thereof from 95:5 to 70:30, obtained by hydrolysis and condensation of alcoholic solutions of titanium and silicon alcoholates or titanium and zirconium alcoholates by slow addition of mixture of alcohol and water thereto till combined precipitate is formed. EFFECT: greater safety for ecosystem and higher catalytic activity of new catalysts than Sb2O3 and titanium tetrabutylate in equal concentration. 14 cl, 14 ex
