FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves longitudinally placing ultrasonic device transducer above the pubis. The atresic area of the rectum is found. Succeeding soft pressing movements are applied to perineal skin of the newborn in the expected anus projection using the index finger of hand not occupied with holding the transducer. Track ball is used for measuring distance on the apparatus display unit from the atresic rectum end to baby skin area moving due to pressure applied by physician finger. 1 cm is added to the obtained result that corresponds to the real height of atresia. Rectum atresia height being not greater than 4 cm, the transducer is transversely placed on the baby perineum in the expected anus projection. Track ball is used for measuring distance on the apparatus display unit between the blind rectum end and perineal skin. 1 cm is added to the obtained result. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurement.
