FIELD: missile weapon, in particular, arbalests with a string trigger safety catch. SUBSTANCE: the arbalest has a casing, rotary spring-loaded fork for holding the string engageable with the trigger mechanism, string trigger safety catch in the form of a rotary spring-loaded lever engageable with the fork, provided with a hand change-over lever, and an ON and OFF position lock. The safety lever is provided with detents located for engagement with the string. The ON/OFF position lock of the safety catch is made in the form of a rotary spring-loaded pusher, whose axle is fastened to the safety lever boss. The hand change-over lever of the safety catch is located between the casing side walls, not projecting from the casing, and inspection ports are made in the casing side walls in the places of the lever ON and OFF positions.
