FIELD: machining, mounting/dismounting operations on pipe-lines. SUBSTANCE: invention refers to cutting of pipes for subsequent jointing. Pipe cutter has trolley carrying cutting tools and drive, cutting-in mechanism, clamping mechanism in the form of two chains and mechanism correcting path of motion. The latter comes in the form of band and additional guiding chain. Band presents continuous flexible tape whose both end sections has brackets and groove. Flexible binding member can be laid on surface of band. Chain is mounted along one of guiding edges of band, embraces pipe to be cut and is made fast by means of clamping unit. Guiding sprockets interacting with links of guiding chain in process of operation are mounted on axles of bearing rollers on trolley for free rotation and limited axial movement. Such design of multipurpose pipe cutter provides for high quality cutting of pipes of any diameter without any re-adjustment. EFFECT: high quality cutting of pipes of any diameter. 3 cl, 3 dwg
