ROLLING MILL SPINDLE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: rolling equipment, namely spindles for driving rolling rolls of rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: spindle of rolling mill includes shaft with clutches for joining with rolling roll and with roll of pinion stand. Said clutches have toothed sleeves pressed onto stems of shaft and toothed casings with hinge and coupling portions. Coupling portions have central cylindrical openings for joining by interference fit with cylindrical stem of roll of pinion stand and by running fit - with rolling roll blade having flats. Hinge portions of casings at side of shaft are closed by means of through-type lids embracing toothed sleeves and secured to ends of hinge portions of casings. Casing is one-piece part at side of rolling roll and at side of roll of pinion stand it is builtup one. Hinge portion of casing is joined with coupling portion by means of spline joint and it is secured to coupling portion through end flange connection by means of bolts. Discs are mounted on inner ends of coupling portions. At side of hinge portions discs have central trunnions mounted in centering sphere joints arranged in end turnings of tail shaft. In central opening of coupling portion of casing at side of rolling roll there are two lengthwise cylindrical grooves symmetrical relative to cross axis of casing. In said grooves there are inserts with semicylinder cross section having flats engaging with flats of rolling roll blades. At side of disc on semicylinder surfaces of inserts there are ring-half dents arranged in inner annular groove of coupling portion formed by cylindrical turning of inner end of coupling portion and end cylindrical protrusion of disc placed in said turning. There are cylinder stems on rear ends of inserts behind ring-half dents. Said stems are extensions of semicylinder surfaces of inserts and they are arranged in dead cylindrical openings of disc coaxial with lengthwise cylindrical grooves for inserts. On front ends of inserts there are end protrusions with outer cylindrical surfaces whose radius values are equal to those of ring-half dents of rear ends of inserts. From outside end protrusions of inserts are closed by means of cross strips and they are arranged in inner rectangular cross section recesses of said protrusions with possibility of turning. Cross strips have dents for mounting them in reciprocal recesses of outer end of casing. On outer faces of strips there are grooves for placing heads of bolts for securing strips to outer end of casing. EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability of spindle, improved quality of rolled pieces, lowered wear of rolling rolls. 3 dwg
