FIELD: continuous and discrete monitoring of thickness of band materials made from stainless steel and non-ferrous metals. SUBSTANCE: device includes pair of dielectric guide plates between which article under test is drawn. Two coils: excitation coil and measuring coil are located on outer sides of these plates. Excitation coil is connected to AC generator and measuring coil is connected to AC amplifier at varying gain factor. Generator and amplifier outputs are connected to inputs of respective two identical AC-to-DC converters. Outputs of converters are connected to inputs of algebraic adder whose output is connected to digital voltmeter and recorder. Linear dependence between parameters of thickness of article under test and readings of digital voltmeter and recorder is ensured. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
