SOFA-BED Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: furniture production. SUBSTANCE: sofa-bed has base, front and rear walls attached to base and connected by side members made from tubes. Each side member has front leg pivotally connected to elbow rest having layer of soft material, rear leg and member for connecting front and rear legs. Connecting member carries two fingers for mounting swivel link mechanism, which couples back and seat frames. Sofa-bed has auxiliary layer of soft material which is positioned under seat and abuts against back, when soft-bed construction is in "bed" position. Conversion is provided by rotating seat with auxiliary soft member upward, simultaneous lowering of back onto rear wall by means of swivel link mechanism and lowering of seat with simultaneous rotation of auxiliary soft layer member about pivot hinge and synchronous automatic stretching of supporting legs and support by tie-rods. The construction is transformed to "sofa" position in reverse order. Such construction allows, apart from complete of two armchairs-beds, 4-5 bed or seat places to be formed.
