METHOD FOR COMBINATION TREATMENT OF LOCALLY DISSEMINATED FORMS OF CANCER OF MAXILLARY SINUS Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: patient undergoes a preoperative speeded up course of photon therapy with a single dose of 3.0 Gr, 5 fractions a week up to a cumulative dose of 30 to 36 Gr. Prior to operation, depending on the quantity of dose of the preoperative course and duration (5 to 10 days) of the interval before operation, determined is the optimum quantity of the single dose within 10 to 20 Ge of intraoperative radiotherapy by fast-moving electrons of a 6-MeV small-size betatron. Prosthetics by metal is accomplished alongside with memory of shape from enickelid-titanium. The total course dose of combination irradiation does not exceed 65 to 75 Gr at observation of tolerance of circumflex tissues to the effect of ionizing radiation and does not prevent healing of the postoperative wound. The total quantity of the course dose from 65 to 75 Gr is fed to the pathologic focus for 2.5 to 3 weeks. EFFECT: reduced frequency of local recurrences and improved quality of life of patients.
