FIELD: petrochemical processes. SUBSTANCE: raw material containing hydrocarbons and oxygen-containing gas is brought into contact with catalyst at elevated temperature, said catalyst having porous monolith structure and including catalytically active metal deposited on zirconium oxide-based carrier. When starting or stopping reactor, catalyst is subjected to heat shock within temperature range at least 500 C with rate at least 50 C/min.
