FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of synthesis of 5-substituted 2-chloro-pyridine of the formula (I) where R means unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or aralkyl. Method involves interaction of acetenamide of the formula (II) where R has the above indicated values, R1 means C1-C4-alkyl or aryl-(C1-C4)-alkyl with Filsmayer's reagent forming in reaction of formamide of the formula R2R3-NC(O)H where R2 and R3 mean direct or branched cyclic C4-C8-alkyl with chlorinating agent followed by removal of excess of chlorinating agent by distillation off and addition of dialkylformamide from reaction mixture after termination of Filsmayer's reagent intercation with acetenamide of the formula (II).
