FIELD: chemistry of polymers. SUBSTANCE: described is metallocene catalyst for preparing cycloolefin copolymer which is sterilely rigid metallocene compound comprising as ligands at least two substituted or unsubstituted cyclopentadienyl groups bonded together through monocyclic ring system, one cyclopentadienyl group being annealed to monocyclic system, and said system is different from 4-η5-3-alkylceclopentadienyl 4,6,6- trimethyl-η5-2-alkyl-4,5-tetrahydropentalene) and is essentially compound of formula I: wherein M is metal of group IV b of Periodic Table; R1 and R2 are the same or different and are halogen atom, alkyl having 1-10 carbon atoms, or group NR13

Also described are method of preparing cycloolefin copolymer and polymeric alloy comprising at least one cycloolefin polymer.
