FIELD: optical communications; control systems. SUBSTANCE: method includes counting time intervals between digital optical pulses by means of timer; novelty is that upon arrival of digital pulse at external interrupt input of processor unit or at parallel-port digit input of the latter, or at its clear input value is extracted from timer and constant is subtracted from this value to find time interval between present pulse and preceding one; then rendition table that includes command or data flag as well as data value or type of command for each time interval is used to determine data value obtained or type of command; when combination of data and commands is transmitted, digital start pulse is shaped across parallel-port digit lead of processor unit by setting logical one or logical zero level for time of chosen pulse width; then respective time interval is found for each data value and each command from rendition table and digital pulse is shaped across parallel-port digit lead of processor unit by setting logical one or logical zero level for time of chosen pulse width bearing in mind that its leading edge on time axis should be spaced apart from that of preceding pulse through distance equal to mentioned interval.
