FIELD: rockets and space vehicles. SUBSTANCE: according to invention, tank is filled with liquid oxygen to preset level with provision of uniform field of preset mean mass temperature in tank height. For this purpose supercooled oxygen is fed to tank lower bottom and helium is passed through oxygen. Temperature of oxygen at tank inlet is maintained lower than preset mean mass temperature by value of heating of oxygen filled into tank. This provides reduction of heat input to cryogenic liquid. Prior to filling the tank it can be chilled to mean temperature not exceeding minus 160 C by delivering supercooled oxygen to upper part of tank. EFFECT: simplified tank filling process, enlarged capabilities, reduced time and cost. 2 cl, 1 dwg
