FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: process consists in isobutylene-isoprene copolymerization in methyl chloride diluent in presence of Friedel-Crafts catalyst and includes deactivation of catalyst, degassing of rubber, condensation, compression, drying, and rectification of non-polymerized monomers and diluent. Process also includes separation and drying of rubber and preparation of charge mixture. Before the latter operation, isobutylene is regenerated by hydration into trimethyl carbinol, which is dehydrated back into isobutylene. The latter is further purified by washing with water to remove carbonyl- and nitrogen-containing soluble compounds followed by additional removal of butylenes and butadiene, azeotropic drying, treatment with dry alkali at liquid isobutylene supply volume rate from 2.5 to 10.0 and temperature 35 to 65 C. EFFECT: enhanced process efficiency. 1 dwg, 10 ex
