FIELD: production of aluminum. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with prolongation of service life of electrolyzer up to 8-10 years due to prevention of crack formation caused by thermal expansion of members of cathode sections in hearth blocks. This is achieved by use of suspension composed of ceramic substances resistant to melting and having porosity not higher than 30% in joints. EFFECT: prolonged service life of electrolyzer. 1 tbl
