FIELD: underground electrical communication cables. SUBSTANCE: determination of distance to place of leaking in long-sized articles being under excessive gas pressure is performed by measuring of gass flow rate and differential pressure in airtight article during one-way delivery of gas and subsequent determination of article pneumatic conductivity by formula depending on relation of gas volumetric flow rate for length between article ends to differential pressure on article ends. Then gas flow rate and pressure on ends of leaking article are measured, and distance to place of leaking is determined by formula which takes into account distance to place of leaking from first end of article and volumetric flow rate of gas supplied to article through first and second ends, respectively. Gas pressure on first and second ends of article, respectively, and pneumatic conductivity of airtight article are also measured. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy. 1 dwg
