FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: flow and pressure drop of gas in a channel is measured at the ends of a section of an intercity cable-conduit line of a fibre-optic transmission line, and from the obtained data, air tightness is assessed and distance to the leakage point is determined. According to the invention, the intercity cable-conduit line of a fibre-optic transmission line is divided into sections. Transmission line channels of neighbouring sections are sealed from each other. In inspection devices lying within the limits of a section, portions of each of the channels from sections neighbouring the inspection device are connected by an air duct. Along the line at the boundaries of sections, there are test points, on the shields of which ends of flexible air ducts reach from the intercity cable-conduit lines of the fibre-optic transmission line. The transmission line is then routed away and through the flexible air ducts reaching the test points, channels of sections are alternately brought under pressure at a period necessary for measuring flow and pressure of gas in the channel on the section, from the results of which air tightness is assessed and distance to a leakage point is determined.
EFFECT: wider field of use.
