FIELD: filtration; filter elements for cleaning liquids and gases. SUBSTANCE: ceramic filter element has main part with large pores which is provided with surface layer having small pores on all sides, but for flow outlet side. Specific air permeability of material of main part exceeds that of material of surface layer by 50 to 750 times. Main part of filter element may have form of rectangular parallelepiped. Main part of filter element may have form of regular body of revolution provided with central hole. Main part of filter element may have inner voids in form of blind recesses of regular form. Surfaces of voids may be coated with surface layer having small pores. EFFECT: enhanced strength and efficiency of filter element; reduced labor consumption in designing filtering systems. 3 cl, 5 dwg
