FIELD: mechanical engineering; forming cermet coats on surfaces of parts made from ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes preparation of finely dispersed solid activating medium from mixture of ground serpentinites containing 32-45 mass-% of silicon, 18-26 mass-% of magnesium oxide and 10-14 mas-% of ferric oxide followed by delivery of activating medium thus prepared to surface of be treated and acting of surface being treated by acoustic oscillations through layer of ground serpentinites. Delivery of activating medium to surface being treated is performed either by application of layer of serpentinites ground to dispersity of 0.1-10.0 mkm to surface to be treated or in the course of action on surface by ultrasonic oscillations at frequency of 22-24 kHz and power of 0.4-10.0 kW continued during 1-60 minutes per square decimeter of surface being treated.
