FIELD: instrumentation. SUBSTANCE: converter includes radiation source, focusing wedge, illuminator, mirror with off-axis parabolic-cylindrical reflecting surface and photodetector with strip of photosensitive elements mechanically coupled in single unit. Mirror forms parallel beam of radiation. Measured object casts shadow on strip of photodetector by which value diameter and/or position of object is found. With the use of given invention problem of design of simple, compact, accurate and multipurpose device suitable for use in laboratory, shop and airborne equipment is solved.
